hi there im a bit new to sound systems. i have recently been given a pair of 6x9s and a 12" sub but no amp. do i just add the rms values together and then get an amp with a slightly lower rms wattage? any help would be appreciated

Rule of thumb don't mix 6x9s and a sub.

if you're set on using both firstly you need to check the ohmage of the speakers and sub then check the rms. if you can find that out I can help you more in detail :)

Why should you not run them together?
I only know the power and resistance of the 6x9s at the minute as I havent picked up the sub yet but as soon as I do I will get back to you. Thanks

If you fit the 6x9s on the rear shelf they will be running in the same air space the sub will in, in turn will make everything sound muffled

I was thinking of fittin the sub in the left cubby hole n then a 6x9 where the original little sub was but cut it into the side then the other 6x9 opposite in roughly the same position. Do you think thats not a gud idea then?
