phatbox

hi im thinking of getting a phatbox for my b5 audi , however this link has started to get me a bit worried
about mp3s i have downloaded from napster and the like will they work with the phatbox ?

however this link looks like about 10 months old

thanks any opinons would be much appreaciated on which mp3s work and which ones dont

You shouldnt have a problem with any mp3's. The only potential problems i can think of is with VBR encoded files, or too high/low bitrate encoded files. You may potentially have problems if you use some exotic/unknown encoding engine.

Dont get confused with windows media wma or itunes tosh either. They're all DRM protected and can only be played on devices that support them (i.e. next to nothing).

I haven't had any experience on napster since it was re-introduced. How does it work? do you get a choice of the bitrate or encoder?

I rip at 192kbps CBR and use a LAME based encoder, and have never had any problems.

BTW, a good cheap site for purchasing music at different levels of quality is allofmp3.com

yeah just tried allof mp3 its wicked!!
so cheap i down loaded 320kbps excellent sound quality im gonna use this now however on this website it uses online encoding this has no problems with the phatbox?

one the best invesment i have made to my car the phatbox is truly amazing i like the different mode you can find the song you want
1. Album mode
2. Artist mode
3. Genre mode

all with voice prompts

anyone thinkingabout getting a cd changer forget that get one of these!!
