Can someone please tell me how to remove my headunit without damaging the surrounding console. Its not the single tape version. Cheers

I BROUGHT SOME EUROPEAN HEAD-UNIT REMOVAL KEYS FROM HALFORDS FOR ABOUT 3.
JUST READING YOUR POST AGAIN I WAS REMOVING THE BOSE WITH THE SINGLE TAPE VERSION. i DON'T THINK IT WILL BE MUCH DIFFERENT THOUGH.

Apologies for the last post bing in capitals.

I put the removal keys in and the stereo came out straight away no problems at all.

You nee 2 sets of keys (top & bottom) and the whole unit will pull out. Be warned though. Be very gentle with the keys. They operate small metal spring clips inside the fascia which can easily get bent or damaged and then you really have problems.
Don't ram the keys in just ease them in (with the long side of each key facing the edge of the HU) until you feel a very small resistance.
I think you're supposed to use the keys to pull the HU out but I wouldn't do this as this is when the damage occurs.

Halfords, ICE dealer, Audi dealer or ebay.
They are thin metal strips that slide into the slots top & bottom of the double DIN HU.

thanks alot mate, much appreciated.

I have two amps which i want to wire up to this headunit. i have bought some speaker output to rca converters (with adjustable levels) do you think it would sound good? i dont really wanna scrap the headunit as it sits in nice and flush.

1. The HU only has front speaker outputs
2. Line level converters are not the best thing in the world for achieving good sound quality

Just buy the Blaupunkt RCA adapter.
This plugs straight into the back of the HU and gives you front & rear pre-outs on RCA sockets and the remote on for the amps.
The only problem is you may have a solid connector on the back of the HU, rather than the multicoloured 3 part connector. If this is the case then you will lose the DIS & CD changer functionality (if you have a separate changer).
If you do have the multicoloured connector then the yellow bit just slides off and you can fit the adapter in its place.
