Hi, i have a symphony 2 stereo/multi cd player in my audi a3 and has a cd problem, iv purchased a replacement head unit from ebay but has no code, i spoken to a mate who works at a vag dealer and he says he cant get it without the car details which i dont have.

is this correct? is the stereo now useless to me now or can i get the code another way?

He is correct, Audi dealers require 'proof of ownership' so they'd ask for a copy of the V5 or the VIN of the car.

You can get the code loads of other ways, just Google radio codes and you'll get loads of websites.
 
Not entirely true tbh, he could, being a mate that works at a dealer, login & get the code for you just using your vin & the radio AU serial number, but he may be little anal :)
 
The code for the radio isnt from my car, i dont have original car details, i phoned up dealership and only costing me £9 + vat so just gonna do that.
 
I stated YOUR vin, so you dont need original car info.
