iPod shuffle

Picked up first A3, MY 2009. It's fitted Concert2+ head unit + Bose speaker and an iPod interface in glove box.
Not owning an iPod and reading on forums, it'll not display much info on the head unit was thinking of using a basic iPod Shuffle.

Will the Shuffle fit the Audi adapter?
If so, does it also charge the Shuffle's battery?

I would grab yourself an ipod nano with an extenstion cable, so at least you can see track info to select, I may have a nano somewhere I dont use if of interest & charging should be ok, but if not then a simple adapter cable should take care of that, as apple like to change pins every now & then so we buy more accessories lol.

Good idea; fit nano with ext cable.
But with the 'aux in' socket, perhaps I'll just use my smart phone.
I'll have to put more thought in to this.

So it has the auxin already fitted?

Yes it has aux in socket under a tiny flap in the central handbrake console.
The ipod interface is in the glovebox.

Use auxin & a 12v charger cable in cig lighter socket, save hassle of glovebox open/close 24/7 for track info, plus glovebox lid wont get snapped
