IPhone in-car dock idea!!

Hi all, I have this idea of making a fixed IPhone dock where the ashtray is in the A3. Has any one else tried this before? I will be making up a model of what i mean later. Cheers.

This is similar to what i would do but i would secure the connection to the bottom of the ashtray instead of that white thing. how do i get the ashtray out? And how can i get a cable from my CD player to the ashtray?

The White thing is a proper iPod base which normal clips into the docks
I would take the cd player out and feed it to the bottom then under the console
