just installed a new sub/amp into my 8l A3, the wiring diagram shows that it should connect to the battery, which is a constant live and will drain the battery

where is the best place to wire the main power to, which is a switched live?

hope ive made sense, any help appreciated

No, battery live is correct. It doesn't drain the battery as it has a second feed (remote on) that switches it on/off with the HU. When it is off the current drain is zero.
You can't use any other connection anyway as none are rated to take the extra power for a sub amp.

as explained by andy, You need the 12v power wire going directly to the battery. A thinner wire which will be the remote wire will connect to a remote out on your headunit. (Usually a thin blue wire on the unit) This will be your switched source, The amplifier will turn on with the stereo and then take power from the battery.

Also ensure you fuse your power wire.

hi mate where is the best place to feed my live wire from the battery to through to the car?? i am having problems finding somewere to feed it. :(
