Hi:),

I wonder if anyone could shed some light on this for me! I've seached the site, but haven't found anything with the same issue.

My HU has decided to go into "Safe" mode for no apparent reason. I've checked the fuses and they all seem fine, I've put in the 4 digit code that is in the manual. But it still won't come back on! I've now locked it! So I'll have to wait an hour to try again.

I've checked on VagCom and hasn't thrown anything up, even after a diagnosis check.

I have some ideas:

1. Could have the wrong code (unlikely)

2. HU is caput!

3. Fuse on HU has gone (if it has a fuse?)

4. Battery is dying

Am I overlooking something obvious? And are the Audio removal tools available from Halfords?

Thanks for any help received

Rog

As no-one had any suggestions

I thought I'd post the solution to my particular issue as it may help someone with a similar problem, if they do a search.

Managed to solve this by simply disconnecting the battery for 15 mins. Convienience radio coding kicked in and now is all good :rockwoot:

I thankyou........;)

(I'll get me coat!)

*just to add, it seems the cold weather is effecting the battery, as it did again today (17th), so after disconnecting it again, it came back on!*
