Help - Safe Code for the car or system?

Hi guys, this question might sound silly but im replacing my audi system with an identical unit as my volume button is broken.

i need to know if the same safe code will work for my replacement.

is the safecode spercific to the Car or the System itself?

the code is radio specific sadly. I am sure there are plenty of decode places available. Take a look on Ebay for a start
