    Audi Blutooth & HTC Desire

Has anyone managed to connect a HTC Desire to the Audi Blutooth low system?

My old N95 works, but the new phone is being silly. Any help would be appreciated.

    Phil.

What do you mean by "being silly"? no connection, no phone book transfer, etc.

It wouldnt connect at all last night. This morning it has connected once. I turned the car off when i got to work and it then failed to connect again. Shame as the phone is awesome other than this, however it may be going back if i can not sort it in the next few days.

It's most likely incompatibility on the new handset, if the N95 is working fine then it's not Audi bluetooth module.

One option is to clear the phone book/reset the phone to default and see if it connects/works.

I am pretty certain its the phone too. When its having problems connecting it say bluetooth headset disconnected, where as the N95 knew it was a car kit.

I will give your suggestion a try, thanks. The only other option is to ship it back and get the sony X10 instead

I've just ordered a HTC HD2 - I hope I don't have the same problem. My Xperia X1 works fine.

I have just spoken to HTC and it looks like my bluetooth antenna is shot.

T-mobile are shipping me a new one tomorrow (great service). I will let you know how i go, but i would guess the HD2 will have no problem. Just out of interest Dave, why did you go for the HD2 over the Desire?

    Hi
I am also thinking of getting the HTC Desire. I have the Nokia E71 and this is perfect with regards to the Audi Bluetoooth. All of the contacts and logs are read at all times. Have you found the same with the Desire because this is my only concern at the moment.

    Thanks for your help

HTC Desire should work fine ie. read all contacts and phone logs. I currently have a HTC Hero (same OS as desire) and it works flawlessly.

How do you change a DSG gear selector?
Also can I fit a newer model selector (facelift) to a older model (2007/8)

I have the Desire as well, what I find is that it can take anything up to 10 mins to get the 'BT ON' on the DIS. I can get it to work straight away by going into Bluetooth settings and click on the Audi device. Once it has sync'd up it works fine. Just the delay is a pain.

My previous phone (an HTC k-jam) got to the 'BT ON' part usually within 5 seconds of starting the car!

I find that if i turn the BT on whilst in the car, it can take a few mins to sync up. However if the BT is turned on a few mins before getting in the car, then it pairs up all most straight away.

The problem is though, my bluetooth is on all the time. Today it didn't sync up at all! (40 min journey).

To resurrect an old thread, has anyone else continued to have problems with the HTC desire? I have had an A4 hire car for last 2 months, and got my A3 yesterday, and both seem to have issues with the Desire.

Initially it worked great with the A4, but then it started not connecting at all, so I gave up as I knew I would not have the car for long. I got the Desire connected to the A3 with no problems yesterday, phone book worked etc. But on the drive home the phone kept connecting and disconnecting automatically. Really bizarre.

I can only presume it is the phone? My work phone (some sort of nokia) connects no problem. Any suggestions as to a fix?

    Thanks.

The only problem I have is the time it takes to get the 'BT ON' message. Sometimes it's seconds, sometimes it's half an hour. I've got a bluetooth widget on the main screen so I can switch bluetooth off/on very quickly and that does help.....sometimes!

My old Windows mobile phone sync'd up in 3-5 seconds every time.

If you are brave enough you could upgrade to Froyo, that might help. Does the desire have problems connecting to anything else? If so i would say the antenna is shot.

With Froyo, it helps a little but it's still not perfect. Still have to reset bluetooth every so often to get it to connect. However, it does work better.

I haven't tried it with anything else, may try a standalone bluetooth headset.

I am using Froyo on my Desire, so am not sure what it was like before (haven't been in an audi for long). My initial thought is software issues. Seems unlikely that loads of desires have shot antennas? Hopefully there will be an update soon which may resolve it. Very frustrating in the mean time. I use the phone on the car all the time, and can't do so without working bluetooth.

    Thread resurrection time again

Getting very annoyed with both my Desire and Audi's BT system. My previous car initially worked fine, syncing the phonebook and the call lists. The BT module then died and was replaced - after that only the phonebook would sync, not the call lists - not a huge problem.

I've just taken delivery of a brand new A3 yesterday and now, whilst the phone connects, it refuses to sync anything. Tested it with a mates iPhone4 and it works flawlessly but the phonebook on the Desire just won't sync at all.

I'm on the brink of junking the HTC and getting an iPhone tbh. Regardless of whether this is HTC or Audi's fault, I need a phone that works in the car - end of.

I have an HTC HD2, sometimes it wont connect.
I have to turn the bluetooth on the phone off, wait for 20 secs, then turn back on again. It then connects.

The phone book on the car seems to have no search function. I have 700+ contacts on my phone, so I use the phone to find a contact. Recent calls are easy to scroll through and the voice commands are handy for frequently used contacts.

Have either of you tried clearing ALL the call lists (received, missed, etc etc).

This has been show to help on some phones. It's something to try even if the odds are low

Trouble is I use the recent calls list quite often. The car copies the list OK, in fact it works very well most of the time. More reliable than the Parrot I had in the other car.

I expected you to say that. Maybe worth trying it once just to see? I know it worked on Blackberrys. If so perhaps feed it back to Audi and then cross your fingers for a software update ..... at some point.

It displays the recent calls from the phone, not just those made via the car... which is nice

For anybody wondering about the Desire taking anywhere between a few seconds and 45 minutes to connect to the Audi BT... I found out that if you press the top (Power) button on the HTC Desire, Audi BT pairs a few seconds after that. I got used to the habit now of just switching the phone on right after I get in the car and it will pair immediately. The phone will switch the screen off about 30 seconds after that but it will stay connected.

Yeah, I've found the same thing. I normally just switch it off again immediately after it pairs.

Scotty. Thanks so much for that!

My HTC Desire paired up fine, I could make and receive calls just fine (using the 'phone, but through car) but I couldn't get it to sync the 'phonebook. It just said "please wait" in the DIS forever.

Was a real pita as you dont know who is calling and having to use the 'phone to dial kind of defeats the object of having b/t! haha.

I wasn't expecting your solution to work. It seemed TOO easy, but figured I had nothing to lose...

Deleted all call lists and 'phonebook sync'd immediatley!

    Thanks SO much.

I have a A3 from 2008, with car kit integrated, my phone (HTC HD2 with Android), works just fine, but online the button from the left, list and call, the button from the righ (speed dial) doesn't work. Does anyone knows why the button of speed dial doesn't work??

    Sorry about my bad English.
