A4 Sat Nav problem?

Hi all,
I'm new to the forums but I've got a problem that has me stumped. I have a A4 1.8T quattro (2001-04 model) which has the sat nav built in. I have the car a year and a half but the sat nav has never worked. It comes up with the message 'check CD-Rom' but I've tried 3 different discs and it isn't that. Has anyone else had this problem? Apart from giving it to my local audi dealer does anyone have a solution to this?

Well first off you have a B6 model, and secondly I think you probably need a new disc drive. But post the question in the b6 section to get a better answer, because I don't know much about the Rns-e

If it was factory fitted, it might even be the RNS-D which is cd based. As jwhat says, check the B6 forum, and also try http://audiforum.us/cd-navigation-plus/
