i wanted to check my A4 B8 2.0 cr Tdi dpf........i couldnt do a regen, maybe it doesnt need one thats why?
As i had access to vcds,i thort id check it just for the sake of it really........do these readings indicate/mean anything to you guys

car was on normal operating temperature.

coolant temperature 83'c

coolant temperature at raditor outlet 82.7'c

particle filter :eek:il ash volume 0.00 l

particle filter: soot mass calculated : 0.02g

particle filter soot measured 17.14g

particle fuilter time since last regeneration 255 s

076 Particle filter; offset for differential press. -5 hPa
077 Particle filter; oil ash volume 0.08 l --- is this good or bad ???
078 Particle filter; soot mass calculated 15.52 g
079 Particle filter; soot mass measured 13.54 g
080 Particle filter; time since last regeneration 56143 s ----- what is this mean ???

Can someone explain these figures ????
Thanks

last one is when it burnt off all the stored soot in the dpf.....all your figures are pretty good.
soot measured/calculated is whats in the dpf.......i think 100g is full and will need dpf replacing, but your is around 15.52g thats nothing worry about

kilometers since last regeneration 751527m thats 751Km about 500 miles.

oil ash volume 0.08 l The ECU calculates oil burnt by the engine. When burnt engine oil finds its way into a DPF it can't be burnt off like the soot generated from diesel combustion. This is why oil for cars with DPFS are specified as low SAPS.Too much oil in the DPF is not good, yours is good.

time since last regeneration 56143 s this is the time the car has been running since the last regen in seconds. It equivalent to 15.5 hours driving. So you have driven around 500 miles in the last 15.5 hours of driving around 32mph average.

Different DPF's on different cars have a full level. I think typically if it gets over 45g then it will not regen and will need to be forced, if it gets to 60g then the DPF is beyond help. After it regenerates the values of measured and calculated soot should drop right down. The calculated value is done by the ECU from the way the car has been driven and the fuel used , the measured value is calculated from the pressure drop across the DPF measured by the differential pressure sensor.

Karl your a star. Am going print this off any save it. Maybe check my values every 500 miles.

Many thanks for the explanation

GOOD to know its working .....and the oil ash volume hasn't moved up

Averaging an abysmal 21mph since last regeneration. That just means many short trips picking wifee up from the station

latest DPF figures

just got back from up north on the m1, stayed below 77mph and that 17 mile stretch of 50mph average road work zone on m1 arrgh.... oh well 55mpg it is then

any good, any bad signs

last dpf regen 108 miles ago = today & 6846s = 114 minutes ago (of driving time)

Average speed since regen - 56.84mph (makes sense i was on the motorway doing 60 cus of bank holiday congestion)

today i was driving round town and noticed the idle rev range just under 1000. was ****** off cus i didn't have a clue Y. then it dawned on me the dpf regen was taking place.

when regen is taking place...engine is louder and performance is a little effected. interestingly my radiator fan was on most of the time when I parkedup.
