re wheel spacers and ride height

Hi, I have 19inch original wheels on my A4 avant 8.5inch I would like to fill out the wheel arches more like the S4 .can anyone recommend using wheel spacers I think 5mm to 8mm would be ok are there any iissues with them apart from the hassle when you have puncture at the side of the road.

Second question my car has covered 50k would changing just the springs to lower the car about 20mm be acceptable or should I be changing the whole units shocks too.

I think that 8mm's would be good on the rear for sure, best just measuring it out. I had coilovers that weren't that low and got some decent scrubbing so I think you'd find you had even more with spacers. Each to their own, some people can put up with it but it bugged me... Lol.

Assuming you're on et43 currently then 13mm rear and 8mm front is about the limit IMO

I have aftermarket rims at et45 and have 15mm rear and 10mm front... so, the above specs would deliver the same fitment as this (effective et30 rear and et35 front):

    hope that helps?

Mods so far: BBS LM (reps), needle sweep and dipping mirror on reverse. To come: spacers, rear window tint and badge delete.

I have 18" rims 8j et47 and I have 25mm H&R spacers on the rear with no problems with 245/40 tyres on the wheels look bang on level, but I am changing the wheels for 19" 9.5j rear et38 and 8.5j front et32 but I will be having some stretch on tyres as will be fitting at the same time some AP coilovers, I really wouldn't recommend just springs as they tend to ruin your existing shocks and with coilovers the weight for your car is accounted for in the new shocks and adjustable springs running at a lower height. But that's just my opinion each to there own I suppose.
