Hi,

I was helping a friend install the wiring for his towbar to his B8 A4 TDI today and came across a problem when we went to connect the red wires up to the fuse box behind the offside boot liner.

Its a Westfalia kit and we had got to step 27 which connects the power wires into the black fuse holder:

The wires need to go into positions 2A 3A & 4A but we found one row of the plug filled with a metal 'bus bar' connected to a large red power cable and the other side already filled with wires. There was no way we could insert the 3 news wires and no instructions to remove any wires from this plug as there had been on previous plugs.

Has anyone else fitted one of these kits and come across the same issue?

Thanks

Steve

Turns out the car was already 'towing equipped'. Hidden inside a piece of grey foam was the red plug that goes into the Westfalia box already wired into the car power and CAN bus. All that was needed was to connect the earth strap from their loom and plug in the black plug on their loom.

For future ref, you release you have to remove the plastic locking tab 1st then use the pin removal tool to push the pin metal locking tabs back & the wire will pull out, but yes you can see 2, 3 & 4 are in place.
