Iâm new to the Audi brand having previously owned many variants in VWâs, BMWâs, Mercâs and Lexusâs and so far in the 6 days of ownership am very happy with the build quality\ride and handling. I bought the A4 B8 2009 2.0 S Line in Ibis white, full leathers and SatNav (also has bluetooth, cruise, rear LEDâs all of which I donât know are additional extras or standard)
My questions relate to the selling\buying of this particular vehicle and would greatly appreciate any advice from all you knowledgeable people.
When buying the car I was told that it had a full service history albeit not from Audi. The initial stamp in my duplicate service book was from a âGerman car specialistâ (the stamp does not show the address or phone number to verify) this was a Longlife service. The second service was performed by Audi at 40000 miles (car is now at 40300ish) also a Longlife service The garage that I bought the car from had it serviced from them. Would the car not have been due a major service at this point? It seems as though a very basic service has been done in order to get the book stamped to make it look like the service aligns up to the recommended Audi schedule, this has left me thinking what else would normally have been changed on a car that has covered 40000? Filters\fluids\spark plugs\gearbox oil etc? Could I ask that they get the service performed in line with Audiâs recommended service schedule?
The car has had 2 MOTâs the very first MOT the car had ever had which is still valid for a few weeks had 2 advisory notices, both front tyres and a serious leak from one of the rear shock absorbers. I can see that the 2 front tyres have been changed but interestingly was told on the sly by Audi that during the service that the shock absorber had a minor leak. Iâm guessing that if the shock absorber has never been replaced the major leak would end up being a minor leak as there would be very minimal fluid to leak out? Is this something that I could get them to replace? The garage also had the car MOTâd which is why in theory I have 2 valid MOTâs (whether having a more recent one invalidates a previous one I donât know) I donât have that certificate to hand as the garage sent it off for my number plate transfer onto the car with the V5c so donât know if itâs again had a advisory notice against it.
Audi also mentioned that the brake discâs are âlippedâ and would require all the pads and discâs changed (not sure how soon). Iâm not sure if this is acceptable and if I can request that the garage change them all?
I also paid with half with debit card and half on credit card to help protect me under section 75.
