Hi all I am a new member and looking for some feedback on a steering problem with my 2008 2l tdi sline.Iam getting a slight knock when parking and going at minimal speed from left to right and vice versa.It doesn't do it when cold, took it to a local ex audi mechanic who checked it out and couldn't detect a fault.I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I am loathed to take it to my local audi for a second opinion for obvious reasons any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

not too sure I'll be able to help much but when does it do the knocking? you said parking and at minimal speed, so it doesn;t happen when driving about normally? does it do it throughout the turn of the wheel or only when it approaches/is at full lock?
just I had something similar when i had for ford escort and at first thought it could be the constant velocity joints, but it was actually the strut connecting the suspension to the lower roll bar in my case...... as I soon found out as my car decided to roll extremely while cornering... and on closer inspection... the strut rod was just hanging off, I was lucky it didn't puncture my tyre or get jammed in something xD I just pulled it off and got a new suspension strut.... 3 weeks later the one on the otherside went xD
if you've had a mechanic take a quick look I imagine he would have picked up if it was one of those things though... more just getting some more information about when it occurs and if any of it sounds familiar

hope it's nothing major Thanks for your reply it doesn't do it first thing in the morning when the car is cold or at speed just when coming into my driveway or a car park.The mechanic told me with high summer temps the steering fluid would be thinner and thats why its more noticeable.I stay in Scotland and to be fair the temperature has been abnormaly high.

Glad somebody else has experienced this, mine is a 2008 with47000 miles on the clock so not sure if this is a fault or not.
Could not find anything wrong so ive left it don't bother me to be fare .If it becomes more noticeable then il take it back .
Had mine checked by ex audi mechanic, who found nothing I think its probably normal, and nothing to worry about.
