MY2008 / MY2010? And B8

Can someone tell me how to determine if a car is a certain MY<yyyy>?

Seen a car I like 2008 registered Jun2008.
did a little research and unsure if its a MY2008 or MY2009?

but what is the signifant of the different MYs?

And how different are they to B7 and B8 platforms?

Look at the sticker inside the front cover of the servicing book, or in the boot next to the spare wheel.

Close to the top you will see "WAUZZZ 8K X Y" where Y is the model year. 8 for 2008; 9 for 2009 or A for 2010.
