    DPF removal recommendations - London/Surrey

    Hi All,

    I have 2008 2.0 TDI Avant (143) and got the dreaded DPF light come up and again, first time since January but and I’m bored of worrying about it and trying to force a regen. I would really like to have it removed and remapped.

    I know there are lots of threads relating to DPF’s but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent place in Surrey, South West or South East London to do the necessary work.

    All help and advice greatly appreciated especially what it is likely to cost.

    Thanks for the reply i have sent AMD a message, I was hoping to find someone who could gut the current DPF and remap the sensors out, and any suggestions/recomendation of anyone that has done this.

    My engine management light came on, then the DPF light, but it was a sensor problem that only cost £85 including fitting.

    Hi Zafi, Thanks for the info, i'm think mine could be a sensor as i had the DPF warning on Friday, tried re-gen it a number of times, then no faults on Monday and yesterday i got the DPF, glow plug light flashing and the engine management light on again. I guess i need it scanned to see if it is the sensors?

    there is no need to map the sensors out or remove the dpf for that matter . a little trick which will save you money both in a remap and a dpf removal .
    it does involve some work but is cheaper and cleaner than a full dpf removal and works 100% of the time

    locate the dpf on the exhaust and either remove it or do it in situ . we do them in situ as we have a ramp .

    quickest way is drill straight through the exhaust next to where the exhaust exit pipe from the dpf is at an angle and then through the dpf catalyst . do not drill through the cat which is located in the same piece .
    you can tell when you have drilled through the dpf as there is a space between the dpf and the cat . use at least a 12mm drill bit and drill 2 holes close to each other . fill the holes in the steel exhaust with weld . (20 mins work altogether)



    or remove the exhaust from the rear of the dpf and same idea but using alot longer drill bit (sds drill bits are great for this)


    once drilled use vcds to program the vehicle as you have fitted a new dpf .

    benefits + very little exhaust smoke ,remap is fine and not effected ,cheaper remap without dpf delete , no paying £100 + for a full dpf removal from vehicle .

    Yes, get it scanned. When I Googled the fault code it was very common. So common that when I phoned the independent VAG workshop and asked them for a price to change my exhaust pressure sensor the person on the desk gave me a price straight away! Must be an everyday job for them.

    Thanks for the information, getting a mate to scan the fault codes for next week when he is back from holiday.

    I think the drilling the dpf is a bit beyond my capabilities.
