I recently topped up the oil on my 2.0 tdi and now the mmi says 'please reduce oil level' on the oil level function. I put roughly around a litre and a bit in. Do I really need to reduce it? Can I do car any damage? It's running fine, exhaust gases seem fine when running. I'm guessing I've overfilled by 3/4 litre worst case scenario? Anyone else done this? Had problems?

Yes take some out before you go anyway, i have heard myself it will cause serious damage. Here are some answers.

pop into a local friendly garage and ask them to drain it for you, they can usually suck it out through the dip stick
