The wife set off to work this morning in our 2008 1.8T A4 and said it was misfiring, sounded like a tractor so she turned round after 1/2 mile and limped home. She said a light was on which she looked in the handbook for and turned out to be emmissions sensor light. Have rung thde RAC who are coming out tonight to look at it when I get home but am wondering if this is usually an easy fix or wether it will require a trip into the dealership. It has only done 26k and recently serviced and MOT'd, It has Audi warranty so not an issue other than our nearest dealer is 45 miles away and the wife will be without a car until it's sorted.

Any advice appreciated.

No cars available at short notice they said at Bradford Audi. Got to drive it 1/4 mile from home so that RAC will take it to Bradford, if it's at home they only take it 10 miles!

To be fair Bradford Audi said they would try and get it sorted the same day, i.e. tomorrow so can't ask much more from them really.

Rung Audi Warranty co to ask if it could go somewhere closer but they said it had to be audi.

New coil, new injector and a set of spark plugs required.

Might have to pay for the spark plugs as they are classed as consumable items, £60 inc VAT so could have been a lot worse. They did say they would try to get them done under warranty if they could.

Need the car back and working asap as wife has no way of getting to work currently, been with them since Tuesday. Audi Warranty company taking ages to authorise everything - have written and complained.

including VAT, just told them to do it as being without the car is causing much grief
