Oil Types - what's the diff, if any?

Currently using Castrol Edge 5w-30 in my 2.0tfsi Dynamik. i topped up before a couple trips to Manchester and i was going to get a refil from Tesco. they only have the Castrol Magnatech 5w-30, but that's fully synth as well, so i'm wondering what - if any - is the diff between them? the Magnatech doesn't have Audi as a named brand on it, is there really that much difference between the same grades of oil that putting Magnatech in would affect the engine rather than Edge? i'd rather be paying £30 for a gallon of Magnatech at tesco than £16 for a litre of Edge elsewhere :-/

just make sure it meets or exceeds the vw507 spec

personally i use this for under £30 / 5L

Edge is expensive (although we have it on offer at the moment), but we have some cheaper alternatives

VW - Engine Oil - 504.00

These all meet the spec, but if you have a look at the Gulf GVX (4L for £23.79) or the Fuchs GT1 Pro C3 XTL (£28.79 for 5L), they work out a similar price to Magnatec. Remember you can use the members discount code for an extra 10% off those prices.
