    2nd breakdown

I've only had the car 4 weeks and its broken down yesterday for the 2nd time.

1st time limp mode and fault code P0104 EGR valve, Audi came out and it was showing fault code P0104 which I'm told is the EGR valve. They reset the car and I then took it in to the dealers to be fixed, only to be told they would not as it wasn't showing any fault codes and they couldn't get it to do it again. Not to happy but took it home.

It did it again yesterday, the car is full of shopping, kids etc. The car was recovered in to the dealers and was told a replacement car would be ready to collect today for me to use until mine is fixed, GREAT!! Taxi collects me from home this morning and we end up at Europcar. A nice A4 Avant is waiting, I check it over and sign the paperwork and was told I had to pay £200 deposit!! I have the cash on me but get told its got to be on a credit card. Why?? Cash is cash. I have no credit card, don't want or need 1, my debit card is the cheapest and best way to spend my money and they don't take debit cards, why not!?!?!?!?!?. I should not have to part with any cash for a car that Audi pay for!! I come away empty handed and not happy as I have work tomorrow and no transport.

I call my dealers and ask why I have to spend my money on a car to use when the cost should be Audi's. Still awaiting a call back an hour and a half since calling them. All I should have to do is show my license and drive away. I'm really not happy and work won't be either if I don't turn in tomorrow.

    Anybody else had this problem??

Thats the way it works with all car manufacturers, ive had the same with Honda,Ford and Skoda. Deposit is the norm as its the driver that could damage the rental and not the dealership.

Can also charge your card with what they want if you damage it.Have you thought about returning the car full stop?

Typical Audi customer service for you, willing to take your money, but will screw you over where ever possible!!
Audi Northampton, Audi Ipswich, and Audi UK are rubbish and lack the basic skills of customer service.
Please read my posts about my experience, and I hope this helps you to make the decision not to buy an Audi 2.0 TDi 170 engine, they are not fit for purpose and the tolerance levels are a joke.

Audi top up dealer courtesy cars around the country by allowing the rental company to hold and issue the cars on their behalf. The cars are owned by Audi and replaced every six months or so.
I had the use of one recently (Audi TT S line) Europcar delivered to my home address,I left the car at the dealer when mine was ready.
I did not have to pay a penny to anyone, so have a go at your dealer if you get no joy contact Isobel Lindley (Customer Relations Manager) at customer services.
I have found her to be very fair in the past.

In the past I have had a lot of trouble with an S4, to the extent that it was in the garage for a month for repair while under waranty. I had a hire car for a while it was in and it didnt cost a penny. Even when it was out of waranty and had the clutch replaced, because I was towed in by the RAC, they gave me a hire car for free while they repaired the car. I would complain to the dealer if I was in your shoes, do it face to face as they dont want someone kicking off in front of potential customers.

I have made a complaint and have been given a A3 S-line TFSi with DSG at no cost to me untill mine is fixed. So on 1 part I'm happy.

    BUT listen to this bit.....................................

I get a call from my dealer today, they say " We have found the problem and its not covered by your warranty and its going to cost me £1254 to fix" Once I'm back on my feet, I ask what the problem is, "a blocked EGR cooler and fault code P0104" was the reply. I ask why it's not covered and they said that its a "wear and tear item" and not covered, period. I call Audi and get told the same. The car has only done 25k and why would it block up?? I could understand if the car had 120k but not 25k.

I then talked to the Salesman who sold me the car. I said "he had lied to me" and that "the warranty was a load of crap" and "I wanted a refund" and "they can keep the car" as this was the second time its had this fault and the first time was in the first 24hrs of having the car. They took the piss by resetting and clearing the codes on the car and not fixing it the first time!!

He asked me to give him 10 mins and he would call me back. I've only had the car 4 weeks and there is NO WAY I'm paying out more money when the car cost me £20k, cash sale with no px, so they did pretty well out of me.

I get a call back half an hour later and was told they will foot the bill and fix the car. Great news I'm thinking, then he said but we can't get the parts for at least 10 working days as there isn't 1 in the UK nor Germany and we need it for a least 2-3 to fix so you won't get your car back until 25th July!!

I'm glad its getting fixed but the time scale is crap. Its a good job our holiday, driving the car to Spain, is not till mid August. I'm not a great petrol lover either but I'm going to put loads of extra miles on the A3 while I have it.

I am now going to write a very long email to Audi customer service again about how bad their warranty is and after sales service, 1 of the reasons we bought this car is because we thought the warranty was good and too was the service we had gotten while buying the car, but once you drive of that forecourt, you've had it.
