"Each Audi Centre is obliged to carry out warranty repairs, irrespective of which Audi Centre has sold the vehicle concerned or the country of delivery. The warranty period starts on the day the vehicle is registered or delivered whichever occurs first, irrespective of production point and storage period. Any defects (except those caused by storage and transit), which are found at the pre-delivery inspection (PDI) can be handled like any other warranty claim, even though the vehicle has not yet been delivered to the customer. Customers occasionally disapprove of unit repairs being carried out under Warranty. In the case of an engine defect, for example, they ask for a complete new unit. Such demands must be refused since the warranty covers replacement or repair of faulty parts. If a defect can be eliminated by repair, there is no need for replacement, technically or legally. Consequential losses will not be covered under the Warranty, for example, costs for hired cars, overnight accommodation and loss of earnings. For parts fitted in a warranty repair the warranty period for that part ends at the expiry of the warranty period of the vehicle.
Always ask the customer to show you the service schedule if they make a warranty claim. This is the easiest way to ascertain that the vehicle is still under warranty and whether the guidelines about the treatment, maintenance and care of the vehicle have been followed.
Our products are sometimes subjected to modifications by their owners. When assessing a warranty claim, it must be carefully ascertained whether, from the technical viewpoint, a connection exists between the modification and the damage. For example, a claim regarding the paintwork cannot be rejected because the vehicle concerned has been fitted with a more powerful engine.
Where applicable, exchange parts must be used to complete a repair, only with a new vehicle prior to delivery and a vehicle up to one month and 1,000 miles is it acceptable to fit a new item instead of exchange. Glass Optical defects should be identified at PDI and as such, should be claimed as any other PDI claim. For stress fractures (from the change in the cell structure of the vehicle once it starts to be driven), the length of cover is 12 months/10,000 miles. However, if a specific manufacturing defect is found such as air bubbles in a laminated windscreen, the three year warranty will be applicable. Please be aware that approved sealant must be used in all cases. Removal of non-standard equipment.
Equipment such as tow-bars or radios, not fitted as standard, that have to be removed to facilitate a warranty repair cannot be included on the submission. Any costs involved in this removal and re-fitting must be charged to the customer"
