    Remap A4 2.0T S-Line SE (220bhp ver)?

I am thinking about a remap for my A4 2.0T S-Line Special Edition which has the 220bhp rather than the 200bhp engine. I have looked over a few of the remap companies web sites and most of them only list the standard 2.0T 200bhp and sometimes include the DTM variant which had 216bhp.

Are the DTM and the S-Line SE the same engine?

Are the gains from the 2.0T and SE the same? i.e. if a remap company states 255bhp from the standard 200bhp engine then that will be the same gain from the SE engine? So less of an increase? Or what gains can I expect from the SE version?

The bit that concerns me is how the car will handle the extra power through the front wheels with low gear acceleration. This A4 seems to suffer from more torque steer than my old Cupra R and FR Leons, they had none at all and were rock solid under acceleration. The A4 gets very nervous at the front if I accelerate hard and gets taken off line very easily if I catch a white line or anything else on the road. This behaviour will probably be exaggerated with more power I expect?

Any recommendations of code remaps for this model? Revo looks popular but I have heard aggressive in the deliver so will make the above situation a lot worse. Plus this is one of the most expensive options but I do have a dealer just down the road but they don't offer the trial.

AMD I believe is a smother power delivery so could suit the car better?

CC I don't know much about but read a few good reports on here.

Celtic Tuning seem very cheap but I can't find much info to back up the product.

Bluefin seems popular but doesn't offer much in the way of a power gain. In fact when I looked at the site if I have the 220bhp engine (which I have) then I only get 233bhp but if I have the 200bhp motor I get 255bhp.
    Any thoughts/recommendations?

the dtm the 200 and the 220 engine are the same, you will acheive the same hp from any map.. go for a big name brand i have GIAC, its not the cheapest but it comes with a controller so you ca put the car to standard mode if you need to take it to the dealers ect.. also it does work and there is alot of cars running with it with no pobs..

as for your torque/bump steer i would recommend a 4 wheel alighnment.

200/220 and DTM are all the same engine remap any of them you will get the same gains ! So remap a stock 200 and you will get 240 ish remap a DTM you will get 240 ish as for who to use I reckon super chips blue fin is a good bet and gives you the flexablitity to remove the map should you need to ?
However I used Pendale Performance and have been happy with the results. Being running their map for 18 months nearly about 10 K and no issues.

Seems sensible that the three engines are the same but with a different map from the factory. I thought I had read somewhere though that the 220bhp had some changes to the engine as well?

Bluefin actually quote less total power for the 220 engine then the 200. So for my 500 I get 233bhp, a gain of just 13bhp whereas if I had the 200bhp engine I would get 255bhp and a gain of 55bhp for 500. I could understand less gain but the same total but not less power overall??

Any feedback from other maps in use with the 2.0T motor?

sounds like you need a custom remap as opposed to an off the shelf.Try colin in my sig. Each remap is suited too the engine, not the model.

No need for a custom map a generic map for a 2.0T will do dont waste your money paying extra for a custom map there is nothing special about your engine that would require that.
Custom maps are more suited to cars with other mods to make them work better together and get the best out the engine and mods this is not to say that the firm in the link would not do a good job for you though I am sure they would !

Currently looking at angel tuning (http://www.angeltuning.co.uk/) as they seem to know what they are talking about and they have a centre not too far away from where I am based. Also the price is a lot lower than revo, about 280

Hi Andy, I've just had the Revo stage 1 applied on the same engine as your own. The guy quoted gain from 220 up to 265 bhp but it feels like more. It picks up easily low down and from what I've seen in small time it's been on, it's nicer on the juice if you're driving miss daisy.

Can't comment on the torque steer as I took the quattro, but there wouldn't be much work in tightening up the front end.

I've been running the Angel tuning remap on my 2.0t quattro s-line SE (220) for nearly a year, still love it, never had it on the rollers but was quoted up to 260bhp from the installer. feels strong right through the rev range and no issues other than the clutch slipping if I sink the accelerator at too slow a speed for the gear I'm in, say 30mph in 5th.
now changed my driving style and I never suffer any slip

Thanks for the feedback guys aon both the Angel and Revo remaps. I wonder if there is much difference between them apart from the much higher price of the Revo?

Seriously regretting not waiting out for a Quattro now Just couldn't find one with the spec I wanted. Oh well, S4 next time

SE and DTM are exact same maps. both are 220ps (216bhp). The normal tfsi is 200ps (197 bhp)

Superchips quote dtm/se engines go to 240ps (237 bhp)
Superchips quote std tfsi engines go to 241ps (238 bhp)

So I don't understand where the OP is getting his original power gain quotes from for the different engines

Thats because the second graph is for an engine with a base power of 211ps which you get in the B8 A4 not the B7 A4.

    And I'd query superchips on the 1st graph, as it doesn't match the figures they quote on this page;

Fair enough on the first point and I didn't notice that.

That is the same page in which this .pdf comes from, seems to be saying different things. It might just be me but I still think 445 is a lot for 23bhp I don't want to turn this into a discussion just on the Bluefin website but actual recomendations from people that remapped the SE motor.

Thats the problem with the SE....... The engine is exactly the same as a std tfsi apart from the map. And as Audi half "re-mapped" the car to start with, we just have to say to ourselves do we really need the extra hp and torque ?

This is the dilema I'm. Being a yorkshireman I don't like spending my pennies unless I get value for money. So the likely hood is if I go for more power, it will be a big turbo kit rather than just a re-map.

I know what you are saying here which is why I started the thread in the first place, to see if re-mapping this motor was worthwhile. However with the Bluefin system I am gaining 23bhp for 445 and with Angel 44bhp for 280, now that seems worthwhile and noticable to me.

You are comparing the right engine again arn't you and not the 211ps one ? Also higher peak power doesn't mean it's a better map either, or if Angel's bhp increases are even true.

Also, where did you see this 44bhp increase stated. I can't find any figures on angel's site.

Yes I am talking about the right engine, the 220PS version fitted to my 2008 A4 B7. I appreciate that regarding the peak power, I was comparing value and discussing the point on whether it was worth doing a map on this motor.

I did not see this figure quoted on their web site, I discussed it with them directly which is why I now know my engine has a better fuel pump in order to support the higher gain from this motor.

The point of this thread seems to be somewhat lost I fear.

It's not lost, you can't base the dicussion around saying is a map worth it or not without the correct information. And I think Angel have been telling you porkies about peak power etc. A remap on the 220PS engine is only worth it if your willing to pay for it. Infact I reckon the part number on your pump is the same as any other b7 2.0 200ps tfsi engine. I know the part number on my 220 is.

The point of this thread was to ask for feedback on mapping this engine to guage real world experiance rather that starting a debate about map retailers. The point being to gain feedback from people who have actualy mapped this engine and could answer the question of whether it was worth it. I feel we are having a pointless discusion with no experiance to base this upon.

You based your question on incorrect information which was then corrected.

So what you percieved as wanted out of this thread, doesn't actually tie up with the questions you asked. All the statements and replies have/should help you decide your self if it is worth it.

Only you can decide base on the CORRECT info.

Ok, I have a 56 plate B7 2.0TFsi SLine S.E which was put on a RR at Chipped UK in Bromsgrove and graphs show it was pushing out 217BHP (220PS) through the front wheels. I had it remapped by them and then another spin on the RR and graphs show an increase to 262 BHP, an increase of 45bhp. This is very noticeable, and does not make the car a pig to handle even though its FWD..cost was 250. This was about a year ago, no issues with it at all, My Audi Dealer had no problems with it even though it was under warranty, very happy with improvement in driving experience, level of service at Chipped UK, and would recommend them in a heartbeat. Hope this helps.

That's great info thanks. Looks like 260bhp is possible from this motor then as others have stated before. Good to hear that the car drives well after this mod. How has this map affected fuel economy?

No just std KO3 turbo I am affraid.

Dont get hung up on just the head line bhp figure there is more to a remap than just a power increase it will change the characteristic of the whole engine/car in terms of the way it delivers the power. Mine was done by Pendale Performance and it delivers lots of low down down torque with smooth power through out the whole rev range right to the redline which makes the power very useable there is no point in going for a map that promises huge power gains then makes that power unusable by having the power only come in at high rpm and making the engine very laggy !
Go with one of the big names or one of the companies recommended in this thread and I am sure you will be happy but its worth asking the question to the company doing the map what the power delivery will be like after the map as well as what the bhp increase will be so you dont end up with a car you dont like any more !

Very sound advice, thanks. I expect this is the most difficult part of the re-map to evaluate just from web site details and hence why feedback is so important in threads like this. To be fair most people are reporting very usable power gains from their re-maps so as you say sticking with the big names is probably a safe bet. What I was concerned about was the price difference between companies like Revo at 500 + VAT and say Angel at 280 inc. That is a big price difference and I haven't heard a compelling arguement to pay twice the price.

a custom remap is the only way my tuner worked as every car isnt 100% the same which makes sense plus cost same as an off the shelf one http://www.torquetronix.co.uk/ have read threw the dyno an tec info. he mapped my car between 260-265 and pointed out thats as high as the boost presure should be for that engine to be safe and problem free. car drives like a dream and pulls smooth through the gears. he has the torque set to come in perfect so no clutch burn outs anytime soon. nicer note threw the milltek to..
