Maximum offset without catching/scrubbing

As per the title. I've searched for bits of info on this but noone seems to give a straight *bang* "this is how it is" kind of answer.

Basically I'm lowering the car on 60mm Tein springs (being an S-Line it's already down 20mm as standard so essentialy, it will be lowered 40mm from where it stands). The standard 18's will be swapped for 19's so it will be on 235/35/19 tires that are on 8.5Jx19 wheels. Can anyone give me a straight answer as to what offset I should run without rubbing/catching. I think it will be ET35 but I'd just like it clarifying, thanks.

the higher the offset the further the wheels will sit in the arches matey. If your goin for that much of a drop you want the wheels to sit as far in as you can. I think 35 will be too close so i'd be shootin for 40 or even 45. I'd go with the highest you can get then space then out if needed

another thing mate. Are you leavin the standard shocks on? 60 mm drop may be too much. You might hav to get performance shocks with shortened piston rods

I think you will have trouble on both ET35 and ET45 with 8.5J wheels. I'm running 8.5J 19's with a ET45 offset with 235/35/19's and have had to stick some 3mm shims on the front as they are a little close to the suspension arm. This throws them out to the arch, a little tight for lowering. I imagine ET35 to be better on the inside but be around the same on the arch side. Hope this helps. I've got some coilovers to fit but not sure if I can need to get a better look over the weekend. Will let you know how I get on.

I was running 8.5x19 on 225/35/19, ET45 with 17.5mm spacers all round (so effectively ET27.5) and my car's dropped on coilovers:

You'll be fine on ET35 with 235/35/19s with a relatively modest drop.

I'm now running 8.5x19 with 225/35/19 up front ET43 & 9.5x19 with 235/35/19 ET43 on the back as the BBS LM reps in the pic were buckled by pot holes

So by the looks of things, you guys think that yes I'll be safe running ET35 at 8.5J lowered 40mm beyond standard S-line suspension? That's good news I thought my workings would be about right but just wanted clarification
