I was in lane 3 of the M1 on Wednesday night when someone in lane 2 hit some standing water, slid and clipped my backend and sent me sideways into the central reservation! The worst bit is the car that did it ****** off without stopping and caused a pile up with about 6 cars! Now I'm getting blamed for causing the whole thing but my one saving grace is that I have blue paint on the back end of my car!

Merry Christmas!!

Glad you survived it without injury and I hope the person who caused this gets nailed to a wall.

Now I'm a painter so I can assure you this car was nothing short of perfect, i had just painted the bonnet and gor rid of the stone chips along with a
few other tiny bits that no one even noticed! This car is my pride and joy!

It's at my place of work and I have a courtesy car atleast! (1.2 Honda Jazz in baby blue metallic!)
Just got to pay my £850 excess on top of Christmas! Oh and I had to pay £220 to have recovery home as my insurance company were unattanable. Hopfully I'll get this back but I'm expecting it to be long and drawn out!! Oh the joy!

Ah sorry to hear about this, not a nice thing to happen at christmas. Glad your ok.

Sorry to read about this, it's a real shame as your car was looking sweet but don't worry you'll soon get it sorted. Maybe a drawn out process like you say but you'll get there.

Glad to hear your ok as that's the main thing....

Oh feck me sideways, damn man I loved that car, so sorry to see this & glad you're ok, damn it man what a shitter

You'll be able to claim the excess & anyother costs of that driver mate given the blue paint on rear.

PS. Can you put the 2nd image below rather than to the right mate, saves scrolling across & down.

What a shame.
£850 excess wow!!!
Did the police attend, any CCTV, are they really going to trace the blue car that hit you, did you get its reg?

Yea, the excess is high because i have a TT99 on my licence.I also lose two years from my six years no claims bonus!

No CCTV as it was on M1, well i assume there isnt any as the police didnt mention it!

Its unbelieveable that a woman blamed me for hitting her from behind when shes been hit on the front of her car by someone else! She must be stupid trying it on, blaming me! Sorry to say but, F****** WOMAN DRIVERS!!!! Lol

Thats nice of you to say! I thought i made it look unique without being over the top...

She will live another day with some upgrades hopefully. I want black roof rails and window surrounds...

As for moving pics, i will try but im rubbish with techy stuff, im chuffed i know how to add pics at all lol

gutted for you m8, glad your ok and hope you get it sorted soon.

Ive just seen the K04 upgrade ive wanted for soooo long at a good price and cant afford due to my accident! How gutting!

Im so bitter i cant forward details of this bargain as i'd feel like slashing my wrists

Absolutely gutted for you mate, there was a mess on the M6 on Christmas Eve when I was on the way to work, didn't look nice, 6-7 cars and lots of people just standing around crying, must've just happened before I got there as not a lot of traffic and it was over all 3 lanes, plenty of people pulled over so I managed to get past on the hard shoulder.

So what's going on with the car that hit you and drove off? Heard anything else? No witnesses (who got the reg or carried on and got the reg of the car) or anything? I'm gonna say if they drove off after causing that, they're probably not insured IMO. It's one thing driving off from a scrape that no one saw (not that you should!) but from causing a motorway pile up....you've gotta be pretty desperate to do that...

Sorry to hear about the accident mate. Hopefully the Police will make an effort to try and find the person responsible, although they are pretty crap with things like this and usually can't be assed as long as nobody has been killed. Had a similar thing happen to me. Hit from behind......10 witnesses, a good description, paint on my car and they never even wrote a crime report! I made a claim through the MIB (Motor Insurers Bureau), which is the only way to go when its a hit and run. Hope you get the car sorted soon mate......BTW, didn't you have whiplash ;)

This is interesting as im unsure who hit me! How did you get on with making a claim through the MIB? Im not familier with who these are.

I seriously have a bad neck and back from it but not sure id get anywhere with a compo claim as i havent been in an accident like this before.

You guys support and advice is great so any further help is welcomed greatly...

Gutted for you mate. Your avant looked great, as saId though the main thing is you're ok and I presume all other motorists are ok too. You should be ok re claiming for injury as they'll send you to be assessed and if the specialist agrees your cllaim will go through ok. Your insurance comp should be able to tell you where you stand on all points. Did you say the driver that caused it did not stop?

Its all abit confusing as there was a car that stopped that claims i hit her but her car is black and my car has blue paint on it. The fake looking police (traffic enforcment officers) you know the ones who close the moterways etc from highways agency, well they reckon the woman who stopped, hit me which caused me to hit central reservation. I was only hit by one car, that im sure of but it happened so fast how can i be sure. i had gone past whichever car hit me as i was clipped from behind but this woman claims i hit her from behind, so as she is clearly trying it on this could indicate shes trying to back out of blame for the whole thing. I dont know!!

Jesus, gald your ok mate, car took the most of it.

It could have been alot worse though.. if say HGVs were involved.

But i feel your pain as im in the same situation.

I currently have a claim going through and so far it has cost me about £1500.00 before xmas for everything from my excess to loss of earnings so i hope i get all of it back and then some.

:friends:here ya go mate.

My insurance were great at first, although the silly women on the phone put me down as a third party, suggesting i had only third party insurance and then sent me a credit agreement saying if they couldnt get the money back from the other driver i would be liable for all costs!.

Luckily i spotted this before i signed anything and basically ripped them a new **** hole saying im a f****g fully comp customer!!!! and i was hit by somebody else so was not liable for anything.

I am having trouble with the silly solicitors though who seem almost impossible to get hold of and royal mail keep losing all the important documents im sending them.:keule:

Did the police say anything about that blue paint??

I was either hit by a car that stopped at the scene or by a car that drove off. It happened so fast i couldnt be sure. The car that stopped was black and i have blue paint on my car so it just dont add up.

When i was in the back of the police car their number plate recognition camera was constantly flashing up with alerts for cars passing with things like not Tax, no insurance etc so it could well be the case that i was hit by an uninsured driver which drove off! How can someone do that knowing they could have killed me and others!

Im lucky im still here and not dead as going sideways on a wet motorway could have been a whole lot worse than it was in this case. I just dont want to fork out over a grand on costs for something someone else caused!

I dont muck about, id love to get hold of who caused this...:box:

What a sh*tter mate.
The police where helpful up to a point but clearly they she this all the time and were just like robots at the scene so no they didnt say much about it just the steps in need to take in this situation.

Thats why its good getting advice off you guys

Thanks for the hug lol i'll give you a blowjob next time lol :yum:

I would love to see less speeding camera and more ANPR camera about, this thing makes me sick :puke2:
If you rid the roads of all uninsured vehicles, ones with no tax, no licence etc you can bet your **** roads would be a much safer place with less need for speed cameras!

ANPR doesnt generate money though does it, if anything it takes up resources! Its all aload of crap!!

As a rough guide, the year i got banned from driving nearly 7million speeding fines were issued! Baring in mind there was roughly 21million licences at the time! Thats 1 in 3 drivers caught speeding and im sure most of these people did not drive like **** holes and simlpy went alittle over the limit! It just shows speed traps are what they are, TRAPS! Where is the justice?

Craig. This is the information I was on about. Here is a link to a PDF with all the information you require. They are a government funded organisation and I am not sure, but I think the cost is either covered by your road tax or forms part of your main insurance policy.

I totally agree with what you say in your last post. The new car park in Cardiff for instance has registration recognition when you drive in. The Police should stop assing around trying to catch regular people for going 5mph over the limit and put these things on random traffic lights etc.....I am sure it wouldn't take much to link the plate recognition system to the insurers database. Would definitely make people think twice about not bothering with insurance.

Anyway, I hope the link is of use to yourself and any one else who finds themselves in this situation. Believe it or not the majority of people don't even know they exist!!

With regard to you having a bad neck and back, get yourself to A & E immediately and get yourself checked out. There will then be a record of the problem and you will be able to make a claim for this also with the MIB. Hope this helps

ANPR cameras would be a great idea, as they would catch all the real criminals.

Perhaps ANPR with a number plate seaking missle launcher attached to track those who dont have tax and insurance or a licence.:gun2:

But as mentioned these wouldnt make any money would they.

As for A&E i wouldnt advise wasting there time unless you are in severe pain, just get down your GPs and get yourself on record as attending or being checked by a doctor.

Then go back again in a few days and say its hurting even more than before and get some stronger prescription painkillers.

Your insurance should recommend a no win no fee solicitor who should then arrange for physio for you.

Ive had 5 sessions so far and im still in quite alot of pain and i was only hit at about 25-30mph

Awesome esate! Such a shame....Hope you get your car back to tip top!

hi mate I am a solicitor so here goes even on the m1 there might be CCTV cameras so might be worth following up on this and asking them if as is probably the case the accident was caused by an uninsured or even an untraced (if the t/p driver isn't found it's untraced) you can claim off the mib for compensation and your solicitor will handled this if you find the driver and they are insured you can claim the excess
etc aswell basically your solicitors will wait for the police report and the conclusion of their investigations as it is always easier to sue an insured driver then going through the mib either way as long as the police and witnesses agrees that the accident was caused by this third party driver you can claim keep reiepts of all your expenses and get checked out by
a doctor as physio helps alot with whiplash injuries

in terms of the women blaming u or more likely her solitors blaming u don't stress about it as it is normal in these types of claim essentialy if someone hits the back of you it is usually their fault again the police report will sort this out and anyone claiming in a pile up usually claims upwards so ure blaming t/p driver so you would claim off him she is blaming u so claiming off you etc anyone can make allegations it's the police report that will sort it our all you have to is worry about you and say it how it is it's not worth getting stressed as you have no control over what she says

good luck I hope they find the other driver and hopefully it will resolve itself remember it's early days even if you make a claim it
will take a while at least 6-12 months for it to be sorted so docs getting delayed in post over Xmas is not going to make a big difference

Really helpful, thankyou very much. Im currently trying to get my insurer to get other party to admit blame but not holding out much hope as they are blaming me....blah blah

i'll keep you posted as to what happens, thanks again

Firstly thankyou for taking the time to give me some advice!

I know its not worth stressing about but it really is easier said than done. Its not the pain im bothered about as i can still work etc, i just cant afford all the costs right now as ive just changed jobs and the expense of Christmas. Any other time but THIS December!! Im still owed money from previous employer and dont think thatll be coming now. Its all abit rubbish but the glass is always half full not half empty!! It wont get me down just stressful as hell! Oh well will keep you guys posted, thanks again!
