Typical...........

Car going next week and today whilst braking just as I come to a standstill there is a grinding sound from the front.

The outside pad is showing about 3-4mm worth of meat on it still and no warning light.

Any Ideas chaps.......

Could it be anything else than pads?
Anyone had inside pad wear faster than outsidee?
Is there pad wear sensors on the front?

ta in advance

only way to properly check is get the wheels off and stick your head round the back, it could well be a stone between the dust shield and the disc though, in which case look to see if theres any groves on the back of the disc, if there is its new discs time.

You need to check all 4 pads mate, they wear unevenly, you could also have a seized caliper keeping the inner pad in contact with the disc.

cheers chaps..

Problem solved.
Popped it into the dealers and the master tech came out for a drive. Confirmed the noise, popped it into the workshop for a look and picked up that it had beeen jacked up (by me the night before) and a small part of the sub frame that protects a bottom part of the susspension had been bent.
These were rubbing together hence the noise.

All sorted and quite again
