Just purchased a 2005 A4 Avant 2.0lt TDi SE. Before I collected vehicle the dealer told me he had discovered a fault, it turned out to be a rattling Dual Flywheel. He has said he will replace it before I take delivery.
What I need to know is is this a bad sign of further problems or will the new flywheel be the answer. Just need to know if I should walk away. dont want to as car looks gorgeous !
Whats your opinions ?

Audi dealer or independent?

Whats the mileage & ask what exactly does he intend to change & check the clutch/gearbox before anything else, he needs to ideally give a proper warranty to cover at least any transmission issues given fly wheel problem, further info would help to give any advice tbh.

Oh & sorry, welcome to the site.

It has 85k on the clock, independant dealer and i undersand he intends to replace just the flywheel as it is a 7 speed multitronic box. Would there be anything else he should replace?

I bought from an independent dealer, he only sells A4's - He said he wouldn't sell auto's anymore as he'd had a lot of problems with them (Something to do with oil breaking into an ECU in the Autobox)

I'd already bought my car so this wasn't to put me off etc, may be worth checking as said previously, the AA and RAC offer inspections, but if you can find an independent Audi specialist in your area, might be worth offering them a few £ to look it over? :icon_thumright:

P.S. check the outside door handles and glove box hinges - they're sh*t....

I dont think this is a fault common only to automatic cars as I have heard this fault mainly in cars with manual gearboxes! Just needed to know if I should be wary of any other faults following this fault.
