Just bought some new eibach pro springs from graham goode in leicester.

I asked how much they would quote me for fitting them.

I was told 4 Hours work at £80 per hour, so total would be £320.00?:scared2:

Are they having a laugh or what, ive fit springs before in less than 2 hours in my garage!

What do you lot think is this a major rip off?

I just had my coilovers fitted, RS4 ARB and all new top mounts for £300, seems very steep!

Labour rates are crazy in some places - unjustifiable!

I've always used a small indy for these jobs as they know the cars and don't rip you off.

Find one local to you as a good one is invaluable.

If you're happy to travel to North London I know a great place ;)

I want some springs fitting (not bought any yet still undecided on drop/make) but most local garages I have spoke to say 1 hour a corner but dont charge anyway near £80 an hour more like half that tops !

Post some pics up when fitted been intrested in these myself but unsure if the pro`s will drop it any more than my stock sline springs was considering the sport lines which is a big drop but then that migh kill the shocks ?

Springs is a complete waste of time imo. In most cases the life of the shocks will deteriorate faster as they're not designed for the shorter springs. It's also false economy. If 1 shock starts leaking you'll have to change the pair = cost of shocks + more labour! You're better off either getting shocks and springs or better still coilovers.

If you can afford it, get coilovers.....you know it makes sense ;)

i paid £60 per hour in Teddington, SW London for a garage to fit my coilovers, red stuff front pads & a pair of late-spec clear corner headlights - total came to £800 or so.

£80..... now that is funny.... I am definitely in the wrong game!! :jump::sign_omg:

That's an eye-watering sum of money for fitting......

Seems like I got a bargain....

Coilovers and top mounts, front hub carriers, front brakes and pads, oil service and all filters - I paid under £300 in labour from a VAG specialist I've been using for over 10 years.

Thats a barging mate I live in Hull but for £300 for all that work it might be worth a trip to London !

all was going well until the hub carriers encountered a hairline fracture! Had to wait another 2 days for them to arrive but the sight of the car slammed on 19s went i went to collect was worth the wait ;)

Who do you use mate, i used to live in Croydon, but now live near Chichester but will travel for good service!

Cheers.

Ayone know how much the s-line springs lower the car? ive heard its 20mm so is it really worht getting 30mm eibach pro springs for the sake of 10mm?

I remember read slines are 30mm lower than a std a4 like an SE for example ?
Any one more technical know for sure ?

Sounds about right. Same principle as BMW SE v Sport.

Is yours an S-Line or SE? If SE, I've got a complete set of S-Line Shocks/Springs for the B7 if interested?

I have the S-Line mate and apparently the s-line springs are 20mm and not 30mm.

Sline here too !
20mm is it so your right Dazmo 10mm drop then with the springs you have to be honest its not worth doing ?
