I am new to this forum but I am hoping someone could help me.
I am driving a 2006 Audi A4 which was purchased new, I baby the car and it has around 16,000 miles on it which are mostly highway miles. From day one I have be complaining about my brakes from a thumping noise under my feet while stopping to a loud Squeeling sound ( Yes, they gave me the flyer about this) Over the yrs I had 2 Audi's and 2 VW Jetta's and never had this problem. They are now telling me that I need new brakes? At 16,000 ? With previous complaints? Could someone offer me some advice?

Thank You!!

Is that the dealer telling you need new brakes?

What do they mean new "brakes"? Is that pads or discs?

Does the thumping disc sound like the discs are warped? Can you feel it through the pedal? It's quite easy to warp the discs if you hold the brakes on when the discs are hot it will warp them.

I don't have a B7 but am pretty sure the brakes shouldn't do either of the things you mentioned!

Sounds like warped brake discs to me. Mines done 19k and as far as i know is still on the original set of discs and pads.

Thank You both!! I will update you on the outcome!
