Currently looking for an A4 TDi, but don't know weather to go for the 140 or 170, like the idea of the 170 but heard they can be a bit thirsty in comparision. Would a 140 be better and get it re-mapped? Any comments or guidance would be appreicated.

Go for 170, smoother motor, twin exhausts and worth every penny! Re maps can invalidate warranty and cause resale problems. I would steer clear

170 otherwise u will regret it for a heavyish car 140 just aint enough when you need that extra kick

You really need to drive them both and make your own decision. I picked up my A4 140 S-line 3 hours ago and love it. Responsive on pulling away from standstill and pulls well between 50 to 70. I have test driven the 170 as well and although it's a very quick car when it came down to availability of an S-line etc etc I was more than happy to go for the 140.
Thanks guys, I've tried the 140 which was better than expected but I still felt I wanted just a bit more from it. I'll give the 170 a try next and see how that goes.
