    De-chrome grill

    Hello all was wondering if anyone had de-chromed their grills to black any opinion's on this and anyone got before & after pic's my saloon is black wondered if it would be too much

    Looks good I think, I changed my grille to the black version too. Bit of a pain to fit as you have to take off the bumper but worth it in the end.
    A6 3.0 TDI.

    Ordered mine from the factory with the black optic / styling pack, so no chrome on the grill, windows or rear bumper.

    I like it but it's not to everyones liking.

    They ain't that expensive to buy new, VAG parts quoted me £65 for the black grill for my A3

    I was thinking spray it my brothers a bodywork specialist for bmw...not sure if i will de-chrome the side windows as i feel it gives the car a bit of definition

    You could paint it but with the optics grill the grill itself as well as the surround is black. It would be very difficult to get the whole grill painted to a nice standard. Also the paint is likely to chip of the chorome

    Not when the person doing it can do it to manufacturer standards my brother sprays complete cars im sure this grill wont be much of a chalange but i know what you mean cheers

    Painted my grill surround and rings matt black as I'm not a chrome fan.

    Getting the paint to stay on the chromes finish is a bugger though. I rubbed it right back and used the primers and several layers of paint and after about 6 months it's chipped up and looks tatty.
