Had my 2005 2.0T SE Avant serviced for the first time yesterday (11500 miles when it told me it needed a service !) and the job sheet showed "24H8 Engine ECU Software Update", the dealer had no idea what the update was and the car ran fine before the service, any idea what was up graded ?.
Not that important, just curious.

Just found the difference in the ECU software, the new version keeps the engine revs high when you lift off the throttle to change gear, most noticeable between first & second gear when driving aggressively.
Had this "problem" on my previous A3 2.0FSI, and found it very disconcerting but according to Audi it is to enable faster gear changes/acceleration ?????
Anybody else experience this ?

I'm being told the 24H8 Engine ECU Software Update is for "clutch protection" which is why the revs are held when accelerating aggressively.
The implication of changing the software back is the clutch not being covered by the warranty ???
