I picked up my new A4 Cabriolet 3.2 FSI SLine with iPod connector last night but my interest was caught by the 2 SD slots behind the nav screen. The manual says it takes a card up to 256Mb but I only had a spare 512Mb card so I tried it and it worked.

My question is what is the maximum capacity of the card slots?

Well I use 2 x 4GB Sandisk Ultra's in mine and works fine.

I beleive that there is a limit of 500 tracks on each card so that could be a problem rather than the actual capacity of the SD.

Yep, if you get SD cards make sure they are the fast ones i.e. x100 or x133 but as mentioned you have a maximum of 512 files and folders whichever size card you go for. I have 2 x 2gb ones in mine at the moment. Its also worth going through the mp3 files and removing any charachters which are not letters of the alphabet as this can cause the head unit problems reading them in my experience.

Do you have a recommended conversion file software program that will convert mpeg4 to mpeg3?

As usuall Google is your friend... ;) type "mp4 to mp3 converter" and there'll be loads.
