Had my 2.0tfsi a4 for about a month now, and ive noticed that my temp guage seems to vary alot. Sometimes it will sit at 90, but i can look down at it a couple minutes later and it will be back down to just under 70. Is this normal?

Thermostat mate, recently done mine. Bout £30 for the part, bit of a ball ache to fit as you need to remove the alternator, but other than that, straight forward job 
Definitly thermostat you may notice your fuel consumption will be more as well during this time.
06D121111G - Audi Thermostat for your vehicle. £31 retail , £22 trade
Try and use the Audi part as they revised it a few times due to cracking etc.
And you don't have to take off the alternator Craig
Can just move it to one side. Dont make more work for yourself bad enough you doing a engine rebuild.
