Drove to work this morning, and all was well. The car was purring away nicely on cruise control. On the way home, the cruise control no longer activates at all. No warning messages, or lights on dash.

Also feel that sometimes (more often than not) today that the car feels very very sluggish. especially in 2nd gear (tiptronic). That is until you put your foot further to the floor, then suddenly its at the correct power level. Could there be an issue with the throttle position sensor? Easy to replace?

I got home, and did a VAGCOM check, and these where the messages:

Could this be the cuase of the cruise control not working? Is the switch just the one on the brake pedal? I happen to have a spare one lying around anyway.

Any ideas?

Yeah mate, clutch and brake switch are usual cause to killing cruise control. I'd personally give that a go first if you've got one laying around. Hope it fixes it!

Thats what I keep finding online, but no clutch you see ;)

well its comeing up on the scan so its 99% its the brake switch

Changed the brake switch this afternoon. Took a few attempts till it was set right and the cruise seems to work, but will have a long drive tomorrow to see if it keeps working. Will pop out shortly to do a vagcom check. The new one thankfully was the new style without the ratchet mechanism inbuilt (unlike the one that I removed). Quite easy to install if you remember to put it in place, and allow the brake pedal to move the plunger before rotating the unit to lock it in place. That was my first mistake!
