Good morning all!

I'm fairly new to the forum as I've recently bought a 2006 A4 Avant 2.0 TDi S-line Quattro with just about every optional extra, with which I'm very happy with! However, having read a few reviews from the site I went a head and bought the iphone cradle to sit on the gsm phone base in the drivers armrest.

Straight away I noticed the cradle wasn't charging my phone as it should nor was it picking up the bluetooth signal from the car. I then later discovered the fuse for the phone prep had been removed which I later found in the glove box. Having checked and refitted the fuse I started the process of searching for the bluetooth again. Still nothing. I then left the cradle in the car overnight, to discover in the morning it had completely flattened the battery!

Since then I've spoken with my local Audi dealership, as due to the cradle being a genuine Audi part they were able to help me. So I took the car in and the Service Manager checked it out. He confirmed it was fitted with bluetooth and concluded that there was a fault with the bluetooth module having unsuccessfully paired with his phone and the car as well.

He then offered to run it trough there diagnostic software at the fee of £70+VAT. Fortunately enough my brother has the VAGCom cable himself so I'm hoping to do that tomorrow and see if it comes back with anything.

But I thought I'd post the problem on here to see if this was a common problem with the B7 or if anyone had any tips/suggestions?

Any suggestions welcome :) !

Thanks!
Nige

If it's already paired with 4 phones it won't pair with any more, so worth trying deleting the current pairings.

Thanks dave I've not thought of that! But how do I go about deleting them? As at the moment when I press the telephone button on the unit it says there's no telephone available or something like.

You need to choose Phone Options and then Factory Settings.

If the fuse has been pulled then its almost certain you have a faulty module that is draining the battery, I would pull the fuse again over night so your battery does not go flat. Plug the fuse back in the morning and get it scanned with VCDS

Should add if you get no response from VCDS on 77, then your module is either dead or k-line/can-bus wires are damaged.

Thanks for that!! I scanned it with the VCDS which came up with the following fault codes:

01301 - Control Module for Voice Recognition
01303 - Telephone Transceiver

At the moment I'm thinking the bluetooth module is dead as you've suggested. But, hopefully I can get this fixed under the guarantee as the car is only a week old.

I'll try post the full list of fault codes once my brother sends them across.

UPDATE - The car has gone into JJB Motors in York (my local Audi Specialist) and it turns out the bluetooth was retrofitted to the car and the bluetooth module fitted is actually the wrong module for the car. Which is preventing my phone and the RNSE unit from pairing with it.

Fortunately, the car is still covered under Evan Halshaw's 3 month guarantee so the £330 cost of a new bluetooth module wont be coming out of my pocket :sly: never mind the 8 hours of labour which has gone into diagnosing/repairing it!

8 hours ***, I would avoid any garage that spends 8 hours diagnosing a BT module fault, have to say if I was Evan Halshaw's I would tell them to stick the 8 hours.....

Ideally I wanted the car to go to the Audi dealership, but Evans Halshaw had their own cost saving idea of me taking the car through to Chorley (where I bought the car from) to have them take it to their Audi Specialist. After 2 weeks of arguing with them they finally settled on me taking the car to a Audi specialist local to me.

But I agree 8 hours is ridiculous and that's not the end of it, the new module is still to be fitted once it arrives!! I'm actually very surprised Evans Halshaw have agreed to it if I'm honest considering its likely to cost them in the region of £1000!
