Hi all
Can the Sat Nav DVD be removed without the car being hooked up to VCDS?
I'm trying to remove mine to update with the latest software disc.
Thanks
Dave

2 things, 1st dvd drives can be locked, but most are unlocked, 2nd make sure when updating the firmware you will also use the updated dvd as firmware levels only work with certain map dvd's, so be warned, most are fine though.

I guess that mine is locked as when I press the eject bottom nothing happens, the audi main dealer has kindly offered to take £58 off me to remove it!
In your experience do non genuine DVDs work that are downloaded from the web? Or should I leave well alone?

Whereabouts are you located?

That's your choice, just be careful as it can screw the unit up.

NHN, on a similar note, do you sell updated RNSE software and map discs?

That's a typical 1/2 hour rate for diagnostics, which since it takes all of 10 seconds to do with VCDS makes it a rip-off. This is why so many VAG owners have VCDS - over time it saves you money...

What level of vcds will allow me to access the part of software to remove it?
Will the basic Ross Tech package allow this to be done?
