In another post I've described some problems I'm having with rough idle, it's been suggested that cam position sensor may be the root of it, so I'm considering giving it a punt if it's not a tough/expensive part to fit.

I've had a look around what I can but I can't find the position of this thing:
METZGER Sensor, ignition pulse Black (0903022) buy cheap online - AUDI, SEAT, SKODA, VW
On a 2.0tfsi (bgb).
Can anyone point me at it or ideally a procedure to swap it out?

Is also be interested to hear from anyone who can explain the function of the cam position sensor (apart from the obvious) and what symptoms of a failing part might be.

Cheers.

Have you considered the option the cam position sensor might be telling the truth and your cam timing could be out or the belt could be slack?
