    where to buy parts?

Hi folks. just came home from my local dealer.
Been there to pick up a set of new keys & programe them for the car .While I've been sitting there enjoying free coffee & sandwich they also done a ''free health check'' on my baby just to later on tell me the they have found a few serious issues that needs to be sorted soon.

    They found out that:
    - Both front suspension arms are damaged ,needs yo be replaced asap
    - Rear anti roll bar is cracked (is it possible at all? i know the bushes will worn out, the bar can get eaten up by rust but cracked?)
    - brake fluid is due to change and service coming up shortly.

perhaps the only positive part of this is the fact that now i finaly have an excuse to get myself an RS4 anti roll bar

Now I assume We all know the dealers are well known for finding problems that doesn't exist and are likely to pull money out of our pocket for stupid reasons.

so first thing on my way back home i stopped at my local VAG specialist garage and agreed with them to have the car on the ramp tomorrow morning to see how it all actually looks like.

what I would need of you guys to help with is .
In case all the above mentioned parts need to be replaced where's the best place to get em from?
(other than the stupidly overpriced dealer)

also add to this shopping list a cam belt kit as that will be going soon.

the RARB will have cracked the coating only

If you decide to buy the parts for the RS4 rear anti-roll bar, you might actually struggle to get them from an Audi dealer. Chances are, they'll just repeatedly say those part don't fit your car. Find the part numbers from the most recent thread you can find on here with them listed, and just order them by the part numbers without mentioning what car they are for.

for the RS4 RARB: Tried ebay this morning but no luck so far. How about them lower control arms?
is TPS the best bet price and availability wise to get em?
just in case they really need to be replaced.

btw: I haven't noticed any difference in the ride quality so i assume they fine.

Okay so ill pitch in here and help.

Firstly the arms your best bet would be to get them from Euro Car parts. Now I know you might be thinking is this guy crazy. Well actually ecp stock lemforder suspension parts which is actually the OE product which Audi use. I have got many arms from them and on alot of them the audi logo is actually been shaved/grinded off.

Im not to sure which arm you are after as there is 5 ea side of the car being 10 in total If it is the one I am thinking that has your C links and shock connected to the part number is 8E0407693AL - And retail they are £163.29 ea from audi, tps is 146, euro is about £70

As for the rs4 bar when mine went in they gave me the same non-sense its just a bit of corrosion around the rubbers.

If you do want all the part numbers for the rs4 kit just shout and ill post them for you with prices.

All I've bought from Audi dealerships is RS4 parts they just care about cash, what I say is 1.9 with a big turbo and the parts I'm buying fit.

That's good. The parts people at my local dealer are a bunch of "computer-says-no" zombies.

Instead of Euro Car Parts try Car Parts Online, Spare Parts, Motor Spares from CarParts4Less.co.uk They are owned by ECP and it's the internet trading part of the business, they sell exactly the same parts but usually carparts for less is cheaper and sometimes upto 30%.
Just compare the 2 websites and check out the prices.

so all the big scare about damaged lower suspension arms , cracked rear anti roll bar has been a lie..
audi just wanted the pull a few hundreds of £££ out of my pocket..

Good news that the car's in good fettle and doesn't fixing. Bad news that the dealer should attepmt such a blatant try-on. Maybe a chat with the dealer principal with your phone's voice-recorder switched on?

In honesty I thought about it.
on the other hand they're just people
probably following the company manual in order to achieve their performance targets
especially now , x mass knocking on the door they just wanna earn their bonus.

one thing I just assured myself on is that I'll try to avoid em unless its necessary

There is absolutely no reason to take your car to an Audi dealer to get ripped off. Find yourself a good independant and you will probably get better customer service and you will be more likely to end up with less of a hole in your pocket. Midland VW isn't a million miles from you, I have had a clutch changed and my previous car mapped there. Very good customer service from Jody and his mom .

Get the RS4 roll bar regardless... well ok it didn't do much for me but that's because I'm on Eibach springs with AP dampers. Anyone on stock or budget suspension would probably feel a huge difference, plus it could be like mine where the plastic bits on the metal bar are shot.

Edit: Just realised the dealer said the same thing to you about the roll bar as me (well about it being shot, they don't generally say how), doubt an indy would spot what they meant unless they knew what they were looking for (my case and probably yours being the plastic on the metal bar falling apart and the bar moving about).
