hi i have only owned my audi a4 170 quattro avant for about 2 months and a noise started after a week i bought it (private sale) its coming from the front drivers side (i think i know how these noises could sound on the front but could well be the rear haha) when it first started it was just when i released my foot off the clutch (at the point where the turbo is coming down) and today its started making the same noise at low rpm where the turbo would not be in any range to do anything (around 1500 - 2000rpm) any advise from you magic people would be much appreciated

Cheers
Ryan

ok i now think its the turbo if i accelerate and take my foot of the accelerator it makes a noise like a wastegate but a lot more tinny.

cheers

yep thats the noise just cant really explain it haha its a weird noise like a wastegate but not...

yea I have the same problem I cant quite put my finger on it. I thought it it was the clutch or something. does anyone know what this noise is?

I sometimes have this noise.... and yes.... a tinny grating noise..... haven't got a clue what it is.
Thought it might be the turbo spinning in the opposite direction??
Have had this noise off and on for the past couple of years.... don't think it's anything serious... I hope!!

i have this noise i notice it when i dip the clutch and lift off the thottle

i get this tinny noise not always though

i think its something to do with the turbo

****** drives me mad and then it either stops or i dont notice it
