I have a 2005 A4, 2.0 TDI. Recently bought from a local dealer.

Car starts perfect from cold, but when the engine is heated up it turns over a few times before firing and when it does fire the bremse light flashes a few times. What could be the problem? Car is still under warranty so I want to get it sorted ASAP. It has been back in the garage and they changed the thermostat sensor but it didn't work!

Any help would be appreciated.

Breather hole in the filler cap blocked?

Bremse light is a small machine gun. Rough area where you live if you have one fitted

Must take a look at that too, thanks. I've also seen a good few people saying that it could be the temp sensor for the coolant. Garage seem a bit confused or not interested for some reason! :( The Bremse light flashes 3 or 4 times after a hard start why would that be?

Starter motor or coolant sender are common ones to check tbh when engines warm & bad starting.

Cheers for the advice. Hoping that it's the temp sensor on the coolant. Looks to be the easiest fix but knowing my look will turn out to be more!

I had the same problem for a while now. Changed coolant and fuel temp sensor no difference. I'm thinking this may be a route to my mpg problem. Starts on first turn when cold. Anybody know any s@it hot techs in the Birmingham area.

What sort of MPG are you getting at the moment

If you find the cure will you please let me know, I want to get this fixed before my warranty runs out in a month!

I havent a clue on audis, but on my wifes old mini, there were twos sensors, one for dash gauge, other for ecu.

Get yourself to Badger 5 in Gloucester for a fix mate. Alternatively Audi themselves are great in Birmingham and Solihull. Forget the local VW 'specialists' as they are all hopeless - as are Midland VW in Cannock.
