    Camshaft related error codes

Hi guys, hoping you may be able to shed some light. On my A4 3.2 Cab I've had the following two codes come up:
    2 Faults Found:

    000033 - Bank 2: Camshaft A (Intake)
    P0021 - 008 - Retard Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced)
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 00101000
    Fault Priority: 2
    Fault Frequency: 3
    Reset counter: 40
    Mileage: 114783 km
    Time Indication: 0

    Freeze Frame:
    RPM: 2432 /min
    Mass Air / Rev.: 545.0 mg/str
    Temperature: 91.5°C
    Part Throttle
    Bin. Bits: 00000000
    Steering Angle: 127.66°

    000838 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G163)
    P0346 - 006 - Implausible Signal
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 00000001
    Fault Priority: 4
    Fault Frequency: 1
    Reset counter: 40
    Mileage: 114815 km
    Time Indication: 0

    Freeze Frame:
    RPM: 800 /min
    Mass Air / Rev.: 114.5 mg/str
    Temperature: 49.5°C
    Idle
    Bin. Bits: 00010000
    Speed: 0.0 km/h

    Readiness: 0010 0001

I've taken it to a garage who have said that their tools aren't good enough to take this further as it could be a timing issue. And that it needs a specialist.
The car does seem lumpy/shaky on idle. But general running seems fine.

Are there any other checkls I can do with VAG-COM before I have to concede and take it to Audi?

    Cheers

    Steve

Having similar issues mate, if you find my thread and see if your faults are similar. Sorry can't link it on my iPad. Currently my issues are being put down to worn DMF and clutch and hopefully clear up once replaced. You getting misfire readings??

Don't the chains have a habit of stretching on these? I cannot recall the block number but you can see the correction value in there somewhere

Try measuring blocks 208 and 209 it does sound like a chain issue to me.

Do you need to check with it running warm or from cold? (Or both??)

I took mine to a local specialist. They advised that there are 4 camshaft sensors on my car.
They swapped a couple of them around to see if the error came back but followed the moved sensor to tell if it was the sensor or timing. It's been a week and the light hasn't come back on. Am going to read for codes again anyway. But it could just have been a dodgy connection that they have fixed by moving it.

Cheers for the update mate. Hoping mines just a dodgy sensor or wiring. It seems a Hugh coincidence the issue started after I had a new electric fan fitted where the chap messed up a load of other electrics (aircon temp sensors and levellers on xenons). Going to Tps for quote on the sensors
