please explain mpg dis

hi all,can some one tell me what functions i am looking at on the dis,there is two mpg readings that are different to each other and the some kind of a timer.
o and just another little one ,when the car is idling its revving up and down by its self any idea what will cause this

I think, Ones average mpg, others live mpg. Then it's journey timer. One menu is long term memory the other is short time

Sure someone will confirm or prove me wrong soon

From memory, DIS should show you fuel range, distance travelled, time you've been travelling, average MPG and current MPG.

There are two 'trips' so two values for all of the above with exception of range.

One trip is for the current journey (resets after an hour with the car off) and the other trip is from when it was last reset, so will have months worth of driving in.

You can compare current 10 mile trip, to the last 4000 miles etc using the two.

To reset them hold the button on the bottom of the wiper stalk.
