Door Rattle Coming from the Door Lock Mechanism

It's been driving me mad for a few months, there is a faint rattle coming from the driver's side door. On closer inspection it appears to be coming from around the lock mechanism, you can hear it when you crouch near the door and open and close it. I've taken the door card off and disconnected the cables and it still does it.

Anyone know what it might be and how difficult it is to remove the latch?

could it be the painted facier to the handle? mine was rattling for a while and had to get a credit card inbetween the handle and hte door and push a little metal clip back to tighten it on again

That's what I checked but it's not that, coming from where the door latch is.

Right, the rattling noise seems to be coming from the grey plastic mechanism attached to the door latch. Yet again Audi use different screwheads to drive me round the bend. Just ordered some splines to remove the mechanism! Grrrrr!
