    I Pod adaptor 2006 A4

Im new to the forum got my A4 2.0 TFSI SE B7 about 2 months ago went from a 2000 mondeo to this and I think I'll be buying Audie's for the rest of my life now what a car very happy.

Anyway I want to install a I pod adaptor but my stereo is single din and has an internal CD player and no option for cd 1 or cd 2. Does this mean a I pod adaptor will not work?
I have looked at the connects 2 products and they all seem to use the cd changer connection so I'm presuming they don't work with out cd changer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

You'll be fine. The single din stereo will have the cd changer pins available on the back so iPod adapter will plug in with the right cabling (supplied with the device normally)

Ya not bothered about the track names, just when I press the CD button I only have the option to play the cd in the stereo there is no cd changer option like CD01, CD02.

And ipod adapter or aux in cable will utilise the cd changer plugs in the back of our headunit.
What you may have to do is have the coding for a cd changer turned on via VCDS. That way the headunit will treat the ipod like a multichanger seen as you dont currently have one fitted.

Ok I have done some searching online and found that you need to get VCDS software and cable but it is possible. I don’t fancy spending 250-300 pound getting the gear and not being able to use it plus I don’t have the time. Is there anyone in the Liverpool area that does VCDS alterations for Audi A4 2006?

Not convinced you'll need to do any coding. I've done quite a few in the past and no coding required- just physically plugging into back is enough...

    +1

The CD changer (or equivalent aux in or iPod adapter) just works without making any coding change.

Ive been looking into this also. But ive found that the Dension GW17AC1 looks to be a safe bet!
Anyone on here got one installed with a concert II? As i can only really find people who have installed them with the symphony system! And was just wondering how user friendly it was to use, before i go blowing 130 on it! Lol.

CjB, you will have to let me know how the install goes, as im curious as to what it will be like! :-)

If I remember correctly you press the cd button either twice or more to cycle into changer mode?

    I Pod adaptor 2006 A4

    A quick test here:

    CD Changer Detection

The following is the procedure on how to check if the radio detects an externally mounted CD changer.

    Turn off radio.
While pressing and holding the MODE button, turn on radio.
The display shows CONNECT if a CD changer is connected. Otherwise it shows NO CDC. This is a display-only mode. You cannot change any settings.
When you are done, turn off radio, then turn it back on for normal operation.

    I Pod adaptor 2006 A4

Right - done some digging and the consensus seems to be that some concert II headunits come precoded for cd changer connection and some don't , seemingly at random. I must have just been very lucky (5+ times)

See link here - suggests that you may, after all need a VCDS friend for a 2 minute tweak...

My car came with the Dension and concertII, I think its brilliant!! Dead easy to use, displays all track info on the dash, easy to scroll through playlists, tracks, artists from the steering wheel controls. Can't fault it to be honest, had a Xcarlink in my last car and its streets ahead of that.
