HI there! Great site. Ive recently bought an A4 Avant 1.8t Quattro, and I need some clarification about the cam belt change milage. Here's what's what.
Its a 2000 W reg. The Audi service book says the change happens at 115K miles.
One of my friends with an 1.8T A3 said that it should have been changed at 80K miles. So I investigated.....I found that the change over was the year 2000 after speaking to my local Audi dealer - they looked up the chassis code and I was informed that mine is the 80K mile cam belt. The car's on 106K mile currently /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif , would the 80k mile one have gone by now? or am I playing russian roulet everytime I start the car??? The next service isnt due for another 5k miles so I would be doing it then but I need the car next weekend!!
Who's right?? Any thoughts??!!! HELP!
Thanks in advance
Michael

Oh, I meant to ask are there any specialist Audi garages in the Chelmsford area?!
Cheers

Get the belt changed not worth the risk,80k is plenty long enough for a rubber belt!

Yes...agreed, make sure that you get a genuine change as you get 12 months parts & Labour if it goes *BOOM*.. I know been there done that... great piece of mind from VW/Audi...Incidentally mine was a VW but group ruling still applies, if you get an aftermarket belt change, then you have no comeback if it fails...

Just my 2p worth...
