climate control removal - single din

I genuinely have searched all over the forums and can't find out the information on how to remove the climate control, I have bought an xcarlink and want to drop the cable down through the cubby behind the ashtray and under the climate control. Does anyone know how to remove the climate unit??

I'd really appreciate the help

Remove the stereo first ,using the correct removal keys(widely available cheaply on ebay etc), then you should have enough room to get your hands in and push the climate unit out.
