i have an audi a4 with a bkd engine fitted to it, out of an a3.

the ecu im running is my blb ecu for the a4.

as many of you will no my cars running *****, will it really be making that much difference? they are both 2.0 tdi's?

im told the ecu does not match the engine by an ecu specialist and i need the right ecu for that engine but id need it coding etc,

how can i determine which ecu is the right one? or would i just be best getting a remap? in theory this would cure this? its like my car is over fuelling, hence struggling to start as theres too much going on in the cylinder and also causing the smoke?

what are your thoughts on this?

does anyone no anyone who would put a remap on to see if this was the issue? and if it sorted it id be happy to pay or do you think its a bit much to ask?

I did read something last year where an indie had difficulties swapping a failed BLB for a newer engine code and diagnosed the ECU required changing at the very least. I doubt it's that straightforward particularly as you've put an A3 engine in there, did the B7 ever come with a BKD? If so then an ECU from a BKD car would be a start.

as far as im aware the bkd was only in the a3, bu tmy thinking of this is, the cars are different weights etc, so in theory the maps will have to be slightly different etc, so would a remap alone sort this? iv sent my ecu off to be checked and il see what happens when i get it back, i mean it might be ok having that ecu but there could be a fault? but then again the ecu maybe ok but not fully compatible with the bkd, even though the car does actually run

ecu people cant identify the ecu? useless tossers WHAT NOW GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

i dont think you will get a remapper to map and be paid if it works

i no, knew it was a long shot, theres another thread on here that iv posted in but the bloke has only posted 5 times and i dont expect a reply but he put a new engine in and has exactly the same issues

its in the technical how to diesel forum
