There are a few fellas on here with the 3.0. and I know they have problems with some intake flaps or something. A quick search on here should bring something up.
2005 A4 2.0 TDI S-Line, Phantom Black, Black Leather, Alu trim, BOSE, Bluetooth
Retro'd Rns-E, Multi-Function Steering Wheel, RS4 RARB, Audi Ipod connection, Cruise, DIS and washer sensor, ambient light, Cupra R splitter, Headlight protectors, S4 Alloys, S4 Brakes, RS4 Pedals including dead pedal and a little Audi torch
To come: Retrofit OEM Xenons, Colour DIS, Bluetooth, coilovers maybe 19's of some sort and a good paint correction wouldn't go astray either!
If you do a search through the forum, you'll find loads of posts on this. Just take a few minutes to look.
Theres no major issues with this engine, it's strong, powerful and reliable. The inlet flap problem is relatively minor and you don't need to worry too much about it. Again, there is a really long past thread relating to it.
Mpg wise, again it's been gone over time and time again if you search. Real world average 32-35. Some people claim more but even Audi techs have told me anything over 30mpg is good.
I can highly recommend getting one, as will all the other 3.0 owners on here.

Oil pump failure is a problem. Ensure it has the modded part !

Not for the 3.0, oil pump probs are for the 2.0.
